From: Los Angeles Career Highlights: Helped MNM win the WWE Tag Team Championship on multiple occasions. Associates: Johnny Nitro, Joey Mercury MNM made an immediate impact in their debut on SmackDown in April of 2005. Walking to the ring on a red carpet with paparazzi photographers snapping pictures, MNM interrupted the very first Carlito’s Cabana. There, they took out Rey Mysterio. In just a few weeks after their debut, MNM defeated Eddie Guerrero and Mysterio to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. MNM consists of Joey Mercury, Johnny Nitro, and the hot Melina. Melina gets hearts pounding with her unique ring entrance, and she's a force to be dealt around the ring. She has even declared herself "the most-dominant Diva in WWE." MNM comes from Los Angeles and always name-dropping the likes of Paris, Ashton and Jessica. MNM also claims to be the hottest team on the scene because of their good looks, and they certainly dress the part with their fur coats and extravagant ring entrance. MNM enjoys parting with their celebrity friends in L.A. and New York whenever time permits. Melina Perez was born, raised and has lived her entire life in sunny Southern California. The daughter of parents who loved and encouraged her to pursue any path her myriad skills could take her without projecting unfulfilled dreams of their own, Melina spent much of her youth observing her father, a professional boxer and consummate athlete, imprint unspoken lifetime goals in her through his exploits in local gyms, baseball fields, the workplace and home. His examples of dedication, sportsmanship and hard work stay with her to this day as the most influential force behind the many successes she enjoys in all areas of her professional life. Though she looks at herself in the mirror and just sees "Melina", fans, friends and family are much more impressed with the stunning beauty she possesses, body, spirit and mind. From early childhood, when it became apparent that the petite little girl would grow into a woman of rare beauty, her mother instilled values in her daughter designed to protect her from the pitfalls of her looks. Naturally affable and positive, innately apt to seek the good in all people, Mom was carefully shrewd to raise her girl with enough positive reinforcement to keep her from becoming jaded or cynical about what could be a very cruel and unforgiving world to the weak of mind. Mom and Dad experienced the unique gratification of knowing they raised their baby right as they watched Melina excel through her formative years. Throughout grade school, Junior High and High School, she accumulated many friends who were drawn to her as a kind and generous pal. She would literally do anything to make a person who was down recover in convulsions of laughter at a well timed joke, or offer a gift for someone when they were most disadvantaged. Her reflection was that she put the needs of everyone in her life above those of her own, false only in that her friends could never know the rewards that the biblical axiom "do unto others," truly gave to her. But as much as the advantages her looks and personality gave Melina in helping her become the Homecoming Princess in both her junior and senior years, athletic pursuits and earning an appreciation for her skills as an athlete always struck Melina as the most significant goal to which to aspire. Maybe it was the influence of her father or the desire to prove that she was more than just a pretty face, but from the earliest days of "Mousercizing", to working out like mom, to excelling in high school athletics, drama, choir and dance, Melina viewed sports and an asserted commitment to physical fitness as the best stage in the world from which to have a positive influence on people's lives, as well as her own. How to direct her true passion was a conundrum that would haunt her for a very brief period of her life after high school graduation. For a while, Melina fed her hunger for a steady diet of competition on the natural gifts she was given. Advertisers were eager to exploit her athletic build in full page magazine ads for sportswear, and she was more than capable of winning the lion share of auditions she attended where the emphasis was place on style at the expense of substance. She wondered why. Friends pushed her into a modeling contest in 1999, practically against her will, and she won over a large field of gorgeous young women. Buoyed but utterly stunned by the ease of her victory, Melina proceeded at the further prompting of those that cared most about her most to enter a Miss California Beauty Pageant, again walking away with the Grand Prize. What started as something of a compromise she had always considered beneath her turned into a revelation. Melina quickly came to realize through these experiences that her perseverance was not "skin deep" at all, but that she could accomplish amazing things through the content of her character. Suddenly, all of the doubts and insecurities she had about herself washed away like discarded debris engulfed in the encroaching surf of Venice Beach, and all that was left was pristine white sand and clarity of thought. It was time to apply her passion to her substance, and the unlikely field of Professional Wrestling became her path. Mike Henderson can be counted as an important figure in this amazing story, because he can be credited with guiding Melina towards wrestling as a vocation. The sport is grueling, extremely difficult and painful, and it can take a terrible toll on your average beauty queen. But, in Melina, Mikey saw a young woman who was up to the challenge! When Melina Perez enrolled in Jesse Hernandez's School of Hard Knocks in the summer of 2001, her gym bag was not packed with cosmetics and g-strings, but wrestling boots and tights. She came to work eager to prove that coming down a ramp to face an opponent in combat bore no resemblance to a cat walk. In her early matches Melina exhibited a high flying feistiness in the ring that belied her feminine frame, and fans immediately gravitated to her as the most exciting newcomer on the West Coast Indy Circuit. Offers began to pour in to her mail box by promoters eager to take advantage of a woman of such obvious charisma and drive, perhaps the most significant being from Josh Milton and his colleague, the legendary Selina Majors, who were attempting to get the Women's Wrestling Alliance off the ground floor and create a successful environment for women wrestlers in California and it's surrounding areas. WWA fans were never rewarded for their patience with a live fed, but for many months Melina served as it's greatest ambassador, interacting with fans with her own irrepressible brand of optimism and charm, and consecrating a fan base that will stay devoted to her forever. A brief respite from the ring followed the folding of the WWA, but when Jesse Hernandez called Melina in December of 2002 in the capacity of an agent of the newly formed CRUSH federation, as well as his own EWF, Melina was more than receptive to resuming her training at The School of Hard Knocks. If anything, the time off was more of a reinforcement of Melina's love of wrestling than an interruption, as it allowed her reflection on what the sport meant to her as a complete entertainer. Fans, friends and family are so proud of the lengths this graceful and gentle woman has taken to improve the environment for women in this sport, choosing the high road over the low. As a finalist in the Tough Enough Three competition, Melina drew praise from veterans Al Snow, Ivory and chief WWE Scout Tom Pritchard, all of whom predicting she would join their ranks as a colleague in the near future. As Melanie Little Deer in CRUSH, she has brought an integrity and depth of character that transcends the stereotypes and creative limitations of writers. In UPW, she has faced the onslaught of the powerful Melissa Coates and her large fan base, and has prevailed. And, in EWF, her crusade of style over substance continues to enlarge her faithful wherever she roams. Today, Melina is rocking the ring and making a difference in the world of women's wrestling. But, through all her successes, her devotion to her family and friends will always remain the highest priority of all. |
